Whale Watch - Crystal Cove Conservancy MPA Cruises

Newport Whales has served public schools, private schools and home-school groups, & has provided students with an exceptional whale watching experience for over 20 years. Newport Whales has partnered with Crystal Cove Conservancy, a non-profit organization dedicated to conservation and education within Crystal Cove State Park. We've partnered to create a hands on STEM program with curriculum, scientific equipment and an educational experience you will find no where else!
During the
three hour cruise, 7th - 12th grade students use underwater fish cameras to identify the presence or absence of key kelp forest fish, they will use microscopes
to identify tiny plankton, and water quality equipment to help park managers and
scientists monitor Crystal Cove’s Underwater State Park. In addition to the hands on
science, there will also be a 45 min. scheduled whale watching trip during
these STEM cruises.
Trip cost is $870 per cruise with
opportunities for partial and full
funding for Title 1 and underserved schools.
